OSX Log size??

Came back tonight to find my iMac had crashed and rebooted whilst I was out. Had a look through the log via Console and saw a crash report entry but haven't had any time to look into it.

Anyway, that got me thinking, I never clear the log out, is it circular and rewrites over itself after while or should I be wiping it out at some point before it grows ever larger and fills my machine up?

I'm on 10.10.2

Don't worry about it. OS X has some maintenance scripts it runs in the background to purge logs. You can read about it a bit at the link above.
