Hello,

I have a Hotmail account setup as IMAP in Mail. I setup/created an Archive folder at outlook.com then sorted all my old emails and archived them via outlook.com. The Archive folder shows in Mail and all archived emails shows in the Archive folder like it should. I decided as I likely won't be needing to read them again or anytime soon that I would export the Archive folder and save it in Documents. I right-clicked the Archive folder and choose Export. All sub folders option was ticked then I saved/exported.

If I cmd+i when Archive folder is selected in Mail it brings up all the folders and their relevant sizes for my hotmail account, my Archive folder shows as 98.9MB and has 1,470 messages. However the total size of my export .mbox in Documents is only a mere 8.4MB! I then decided to export it again this time it shows as 46.7MB!

I want to delete all the mail in the archive folder after I exported to keep my mailbox clean as possible. However I can't do this yet because the .mbox total size is way smaller than what is stated in Mail and the second export I did was still lower than what Mail states but much different size to first export I did.

Please if someone can help. I don't want to delete all my mail from Archive folder inside Mail until I know Mail has exported it properly.

I think Mail is rather buggy, like yesterday when my Trash folder vanished out of thin air and couldn't find it, i closed Mail then reopened and it was there again.

Thank you!

UPDATE:

Got it sorted now. In my Archive folder I have my hotmail and gmail archives and had to select them both seperately and export and not together.
