Searched this forum and didn't see this posted / thought I'd post to help anyone else having the same issue:
I noticed after updating my Macbook Pro 15" (late 2011) with Mavericks that the mouse pointer mysteriously starts to move by itself. It only does this while connected to the Thunderbolt display.
I called Apple and was told that, in the little support section the technician was working alone, I was the 171st case of the same issue. The issue was labeled something like "immediate issues" (forget the exact phrase) and an update would be out very quickly to address the issue.
I'm not the best at Googling, but 10 minutes searching didn't uncover the issue here or other sites.
