When I start up OSX, the wheel spins and it turns blue like normal...but then it turns back to grey and starts to spin again...and then it turns to blue...and it's an endless loop.

I'm really scared right now...did I lose everything on OSX? Should I go to an Apple Center? I'm using bootcamp at the moment and I need to get back to OSX because all of my files are there.

However, I can easily read everything via "MacDrive" for XP.

Please help!

Thankee sai.

Load your install disc and repair permissions. If that doesn't work archive and install will be your best option.

Should be simple to fix.
Put in recovery disk 1.
Hold down "c" whilst turning on to boot from disk (hold for about 15-20 seconds).
Wait

Select English at first screen.
At next screen select "disk utility" from "utilities" at the top.
Once loaded, select your hard drive and perform first aid (disk repair and permissions).
Once both done switch off and reboot. hopefully all should now work.
If not then simple do "Archive and install" from disks

Hope this helps

If the repair permissions doesn't work, then Archive and Install will probably be your best bet. What were you doing before you shut down/restarted last? Install any new software? Change any system settings?

If you have to do an Archive and Install, the restore DVDs will install whatever came on your system, probably Tiger.

But they should work to repair permissions.
