I live overseas so I don't have a chance to do much comparision shopping.

I have a beige minitower233 - one of the originals.

Would trying to put OSX on this just be a waste of time?

I'd upgrade to 256+ MB RAM.

Would my day-to-day performance be worse or better than what I have with OS8.5?

I generally do non-intensive stuff - Macromedia Flash, Photoshop4, web browsing...

I'm mostly interested in using the Apache/Linux stuff, playing with the new interface, and having my day to day performance be as good as it is now.

Or should I just skip it? Thoughts?

Performance...

...won't be the equal of 8.5 on anything less than a dual G4 (because anything other than dual processors and Altivec speeds up 8.5 just as much as X). I have a beige desktop 233MHz with 10.1.5, 384MB of ram, and a 30GB 7200rpm Quantum hard drive. I quite like it, but it's not fast.

Thank you for your reply!

When you mean it's not as fast, do you just mean your average duties (ie scrolling, etc.), or application performance?

What would I have to look forward to? Besides just being pretty!
