Ok when i first got to my dorm room this fall, it took me about a week to get the ehternet to work with OSX on my macbook and get the internet to work. It always worked with vista. I don't remember what I did, but I figured something out. Now it won't work at my home. I know that there must be a setting I can change or something because I used to use the ethernet port all the time at my house and it always worked. It says, in network diagnostics, that my computer isn't connected to an ethernet port, which it is. WHen I start it up in vista i can get on macrumors and stuff. This is the same thing that happened in my dorm room.
