Hey all I was working on my Mac last night and restarted the unit it was acting flacky so I did a restart. Once I did that the grey apple screen never went away and it would boot. I tried clearing the Pram I tried to do a disk repair that failed said I needed to reinstall the OS. So I tried to load over my current OS and that also failed. I need to try and recover my files from the drive is there an APP I can load to pull my MP3s and text files off the drive before I do a total reload on this thing?

I am also buying an external hard driver later today if I can do anything with that to pull my files off. I did try to load Unbuntu but I wasnt able to write to my network driv (NTFS) saying I didnt have permition.

Does your Mac have Firewire? Do you have access to another Mac with Firewire? If yes, to both questions and you have an appropriate Firewire cable you could try booting your Mac in Target Disk Mode and mounting it on the other Mac to pull files from it.
