OSX software updates

Hi - this may seem very naive, but could somebody tell me if you still need to download software updates from the apple website, such as security downloads etc, even though your software is "up to date" when checking from the software update dropdown menu? Many thanks.

No you don't. If it's related to OS X or any of Apple's softwares (Safari, iLife, etc), then it will tell you via Software Update.

Many thanks - I thought that was probably so, but looking at the downloads on the apple website, I suddenly wondered - but thanks for that.
