It''s currently stuck on the boot screen, I would like to reinstall OSX but the DVD is messed up and scratches the discs. Is it possible to install from a USB since I can't get passed the boot screen? Or is there a way to fix it at its current state and be able to re-install it then?

No but looking at it now I've done all apart from ones involving the install disc for the above mentioned reasons.

I now have the installation files on a usb stick from that tutotial but when i hold alt it only shows my hard drive

Hello, i don't wanna hijack the OP's thread, but i'm trying to setup snow leo on a buddy's mac via my 8gb flash drive. I am testing it out on my mbp and i can't seem to get it to work correctly. this is what i've done twice:

- Full erase flash with ext jour (and with case ext jour too)
- set 1 partition with guid so it's bootable.
- tested restore... successful.
- selected dmg for source and usb for destination.

It mounts just fine from within my osx on my mbp but when i try to test it out and boot from it it will not seem to boot. I get to boot options and select the flashdrive. It then goes to the white apple boot screen (w/o circle underneath it) then i have let it sit here for approx 20 mins. It shouldn't be more than a a minute or so from my experience on dvd installations. Am i missing something here?

my mac specs: (6,2) i5 15"

thanks a lot!
