Osx Update

I am new to mac...the update is like eight hours by my wireless connection...I bought this system for photo-speed capability..are these necessary,or can Iget them sumhow on disc ?

I don't really understand how its taking 8 hrs, but its worth it for a secure computer. Let it run over night.

Why don't you use your network cable it will go a lot faster?

a Ethernet cable is pretty cheap but it may just be your router ... Try rebooting your wireless access point and router and modem . Sometimes that helps

Well ,looks like I will have to let it run for hours...Ididnt plan on using it for a laptop....do not have DSL....dont need garage band,i-phone...should I just load last up-date...Ithink there is eight in total.
