‘Other’ in storage restored iPhone 8

Hi,

I restored a backup from my iPhone 6 onto my new 8+, when I look in storage the ‘other’ category is taking up loads of space, probably 10-15 % of the bad is grey ‘other’.

I’ve cleared safari cache and deleted a gmail account but it’s made no difference; is this normal or should I start again from scratch and set up as a new phone?

That other is including everything that can’t be categorised as media. For example your iMessage, if you don’t delete them will be there. Or app specific cache storage like downloaded Spotify songs will be in there.

If you want to recover that then set it up as new.
