I couldn't get an answer here about non-internet communication and sharing apps (i.e. those that do not require an internet connection). Any suggestions for other sites to use?

Cisco and probably others have some enterprise level servers and systems to allow WLAN communication (eg Cisco Jabber), but I need something more ad hoc.
