I own a Macbook Santa Rosa (late 2007) in which the logic board shorts in two separate locations on the board, thus the power inverter will not power the LCD backlight. Recommended board replacement is 661-4576 but it's pretty expensive and I wonder if there are alternatives?

My machine specs:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB31.008E.B02
SMC Version: 1.24f2
Serial Number:

Thanks!

The only options are the 2.2 santa Rosa or 2.1 or 2.4 penryn......

Your 2GHz logicboard will be the cheapest to replace (since it is the slowest).

The earlier boards won't fit in the Santa Rosa case....

Just a word of advice, I wouldn't post your serial #(esp. in plain text!) on the web. It sounds like your particular machine is out of warranty, so the potential for harm is slight, but still it's not a good idea.

Thank you! I removed it from my original post, would you please edit your response with my quote to have it removed as well? :)
