I have an iPhone first generation in front of me, jailbroken and unlocked. The jailbroken I see as Cydia is installed.
Now, other than placing a TMobile sim card in it and activating it (no sim card available outside of the AT&T card installed), is there a way of spotting this iPhone as being unlocked?

As Apple never sold any unlocked first generation iPhones in the US, check its model number. If it ends with LL, then it is locked to AT&T. But because it's a first generation iPhone, it is very easy to unlock.

^Thanks.
I have the opportunity to purchase it as unlocked. I just wanted to check that to before doing so and placing another sim card in the tray.
(If it's not unlocked I don't want the hassle...)

The first generation iPhones are all software unlockable because the exploit was in the hardware. As long as it's jailbroken, it can be unlocked.

It can be unlocked, that is all well and good. I suppose if I had to perform the unlock myself I could do so (iClarified is your friend), but I'd rather have it done already.
Thus my quest: to determine if an iPhone is unlocked already without using a sim.
