From Otterbox's latest email. I feel sorry for this ******* that they made stand up there and make this video, but this is the same nonsense that happened with lifeproof cases. Although with lifeproof, they said screw it, and released a piece of garbage case with never ending issues.

First and foremost, we'd like to thank you for your passion and interest in the Armor Series by OtterBox.

We recognize that our messaging around this product set the expectation that the Armor Series would be available this summer. That was our intent, and we were on the path to deliver within that timeframe. However, in our process we found that in order to fully meet all specifications for the product that additional development time is necessary.

We are working diligently to ensure that the final Armor Series solution meets and exceeds your expectations, and we appreciate your patience as we develop the strongest case we've ever built.

As new information is available, we will be sure to share it with you.

FAQ
When/Where will the Armor Series be available?
The Armor Series is in development and we will provide information about the launch date in the future. The Armor Series will be coming soon at OtterBox.com, as well as at select retail locations.

Why did the Armor product images and specs get deleted from the website?
As all new products go through iterations in the developmental phase, the final product solution may look a bit different and we felt that the current imagery should be removed. The specifications could shift as well and we will be transparent with this information prior to launch.

Does the Armor Series come with a belt clip?
We are in development of a holster solution for the Armor Series case as a separate accessory. Functionality and pricing information will be made available prior to launch.

Is this like the Armor Series case that OtterBox used to offer?
OtterBox was founded on waterproof technology, starting with a simple dry box which evolved into a waterproof protective case that allowed for device interaction. We are excited to return to our roots with our latest innovation — the Armor Series. Our improved design not only allows for device interaction through the case, it also does not hinder sound quality.

How much does the Armor Series Cost?
Final pricing information for the Armor Series will be available soon. The Armor Series is the toughest case we've ever built, requiring precision design, premium materials, and top-quality manufacturing. The Defender Series retails between $49.95 and $59.95, we anticipate a higher price point for the Armor Series.

Does sound get in and out of the case?
Yes. As we develop the Armor Series, we are taking into account full functionality of the device including audio quality and usability.

Why has there been a wait between your announcement and when I can purchase the device?
OtterBox is committed to providing top quality, innovative protective solutions. We are pushing the boundaries of device protection with the Armor Series, offering a waterproof, crush proof, drop proof, dust proof option all rolled in to one case that still allows for full device functionality. We will release a case when it has met or exceeded our developmental standards.

How big is the Armor Series Case?
Details on final spatial dimensions (size) are coming soon.

Can I upgrade my Defender Series to the Armor Series?
No. We're sorry that we cannot accommodate upgrades to a new case.

Yuck. I'll stick with my lifeproof.

The launch information thus far for this case has been a complete joke. It appeared as if this case was ready to go after all of the testing videos were complete, now who knows when this will be released. I am a bit disappointed in Otterbox right now because of this. I really wanted the case.

Just a hunch but my guess is Otterbox is struggling with not infringing on Lifeproof's pending patents. From what I remember (the pictured break down of the proposed case is gone from their website) Otterbox's two piece snap together design with O ring sealing was extremely similar to Lifeproof's save for a aluminum dock door and internal rubber padding. Probably not enough differences to stand up in court. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

I'd rather OtterBox not launch a product that isn't ready for prime time.

After trying 3 or 4 variations of the LifeProof Frē, I feel like LifeProof launched too soon and the product wasn't ready.

I have high hopes for the OtterBox Armor. Hopefully we'll see more at CES next week!
