Hey guys, I'm having a hard time with this decision. Trying to compare all of the pros and cons for the Commuter vs. DualPro for the iPhone 5. If you've tried or own both, please share your detailed comparisons and opinions.

I recently got the Commuter but am going to return it since it's way too expensive ($35). I found out the Dual Pro yesterday for $17 on Amazon so I got ordered that. I haven't seen the Dual Pro in person but it seems pretty good. The Commuter is great too but I don't like the logo cutout on the back and the silicone has gotten soft on the power button so it's kind of hard to press.

In terms of protection, I think the Commuter is better because it covers the sides and especially the top and bottom with the hard cover while Dual Pro covers the iPhone's top and bottom with silicone. Dual Pro also seems thinner than the Commuter but the Commuter just isn't worth the price to me ($35 for a case?). I'll try the Dual Pro and see first how it compares. It was on sale and much cheaper than the Commuter!

Cool, thank's

I dropped my 5 on concrete while running to my back yard the other day. Still flawless, the Otterbox and the phone. It's a good case.

I received the Incipio DualPro today and I don't like it. The silicone is too thin and the hard cover doesn't cover all sides of the phone like the Commuter. I might keep the Commuter and return the DualPro now or look into other Incipio's offerings.

I just switched from incipio to the otter commuter. What a change. Phone now feels substantial and solid. No creaks and stuff. Liking the feel so far and not as bulky as I thought it would be. I just hope the rubber doesn't attract too much lint in my pocket

I have no idea what you could be talking about with "creaks and stuff". The dualpro is silent, but perhaps you're referring to another case.

Otterbox commuter looks ridiculous with the submarine window cut out for the apple logo, and actually less protection than the dualpro, since the silicone doesn't wrap around the top and bottom... not to mention that the rear of the commuter makes the thing so slippery, you're likely to push it right off the table.

My commuter silicone wraps around the top and bottom. All the way around.

Had both. The 5 commuter is not as good as 4s. Not cases fault, but iphone 5 is so light the commuter feels like it adds more weight to 5 then it did 4s. Takes away from phones beauty as well. The incipio feels better in hand and looks better. The commuter protects better but the incipio protects just enough. The incipio leaves bottom exposed. Incipio also attracted more pocket dust, but was not bad at all. Commuter does not attract the dust...

If you like your phones look and need decent protection, get incipio. If you need solid protection at sacrifice of looks, get outterbox (looks are not bad with commuter - just comparatively speaking, incipio looks better than commuter).

Does anyone have follow-up observations (in terms of these two cases) in the last couple months since this thread was active?

I just received my iPhone 5 today. I am also stuck between the OtterBox Commuter Series "Punk" and the Incipio Dual Pro Charcoal Gray / Citron Yellow and came across this thread.

I like the look of the Incipio more but protection is the most important aspect for me. For anyone that kept the Incipio, how would you evaluate protection? My previous phone was a Droid Incredible Seidio case that I found to be very protective; I dropped my phone repeatedly on a daily basis (clumsy), and the phone never broke or acted up in any way (just like new).

Thanks.
