This is a quick review with pictures. First off I had the Otterbox Defender with my 5s and even though it had its limitations (size, screen protector, etc.) I liked and used it daily.

This new case that I received today came in a unique package and had three parts: A, B and C , a small ad and a sticker. I am currently using a DIZTRONIC Matte Case that I am using as a visual reference for size. I also had the Pelican Voyager for a week.

First off it is easier to install and remove compared to the previous 5s Defender and the new Pelican Voyager. It is bigger than the Pelican Voyager. The inside rear hard plastic shell is padded and the top inside shell has the plastic screen protector. The plastic halves snap together quickly and the rubber outer case is snug. The iPhone 6 Plus does NOT shift or move at all in this case. This is a solid beast when put together with the iPhone and reminds me of the scientific gear I used to lug around, not for the purist….you wouldn’t be reading this anyways. It feels very secure and seems you could drop it or throw it at a wall without an issue. The headphone jack cover opens forward to allow my 90-degree jack, which is nice as the older unit put a lot of pressure on the jack. The clip is secure and you can hear a snap when inserting, better than the Pelican.

The plastic film that covers the screen is responsive but does not feel as nice as naked glass and is a different experience. The home button is covered by a weird plastic … it works flawlessly, but I need to get used to it. There is nothing coving the front and back cameras, but the Apple Logo is covered.

Highs:
• Rugged, solid feel
• Good grip
• Easy in and out
• Buttons aren’t too stiff
• Headphone jack allows 90 degree plugs
• The complete screen is visible

Lows:
• Plastic screen - not as nice as glass
• Home button covering – undecided to keep it or remove.
• It’s bigger than naked!

This is a good case if your active, do outdoor activities, have kids, etc. It will stop most dust, dirt, sweat, etc. … and I can see myself using this. The abuse my previous 5s Defender endured was a testimony to the case as the iPhone was pristine when I removed it after 16 months. I suspect that this new case would provide the same protection…..it seems more robust.

Got mine today and just had a few minutes to put up some pictures. I really like the case better than the Griffin. Feels very sturdy and I like the fact that it does not have anything covering the camera. The Griffin does and it does minimally interfere with the clarity and quality.

Agree with all of the post above. Now my wife is waiting for a pink one. She has smaller hands and likes the feel better of the Otter, as opposed to the raised bumps on the sides of the Griffin.

Now Otter just needs to make more, and in more colors. The first batch of black ones was gone on the first sale day.

excellent...so is it a best buy?!

could you measure how wide the case is? and how thick

wanted to know if it'll fit in my car phone holder.

DONT PUT THESE CASES ON! I just saw a video that shows permanent damage near the home button resulting from the defender.

So you saw a video that someone posted on the internet? My god it must be true...because you cannot lie on the internet. Everything on the internet must be true.

Well my co-worker didn't post any video but he definitely has the issue with the home button film on his space gray defender. He got it last Friday and it took only 2 days before the issue showed up.

Buyer Beware!

On the case for the 6 or 6+

His was the IP6 and the issue is around the home button there is a substance that matches the size of the defender film. Really looks bad in the right light.

that's because it's ip6 defender.

Can you be sure of that? I would not be willing to put it on my phone after what I saw.

I have the 6+ defender on now for 3 days and took it off to look at it. So far no evidence of any marks from the home button film.

I'll be honest with you... I don't personally have iPhone 6 or defender...
I have 6 plus and already order plus defender.

I've been reading otter box's Facebook and here...and did some viewing from youtube with 6 defender...not plus..

until now..it appears that otter box 6 defender is actually a defect...and it's not officially announced as defect...it's just people were actually showing damages on ip 6 especially with ID touch.

also..i would put zagg protector before putting it in...

Wouldn't removing the plastic screen protector defeat the purpose? I know when I had the defender on my 5 after each month I took it off to clean. And boy did it collect dirt inside. Can't imagine it without the protector.

Are you talking about without having original case cover?

I can't answer that... because me personally I took em off with ip5 ...it didn't function well when i had zagg + otterbox case cover/protector...i'm hoping otterbox ip6 plus will be different....

In a sense...yes it would defeat its purpose of having the case cover removed...still i don't trust those case cover because it could lead to scratches..not saying it will..but it could (like possibility) because those otterbox case cover wasn't meant for scratch proof...it's just to block dirts and all that... but having zagg HDX is so durable that it prevents scratches from outside sources...with zagg..to me i feel it gives me better protection..

to me...it doesn't bother me if i remove it....it's great for comfort...

even to this day my ip5 is scratch proof....

This my brother has the same problem !!!!!

I've always had the Defender or Armor but I think I've decided to go with the Symmetry once it becomes avilable. Seems to get really good reviews, less bulk, good amount of protection, will allow me to easily keep my glass protector, no home button film, and open ports (which I prefer - for easier charging and plugging in of headphones). I also like that there's no cutout on the back for the Apple logo. Unfortunately not available yet and who knows when it will be.

I've always liked the bulkier cases, I'm paranoid about dropping my phone, but I've had the Spigen Tough Armor and it's gotten me used to having a case with a lot less bulk.

I just ordered a black defender for my 6 plus. Really excited for it to get here as I want to keep this in as pristine condition as possible.

Actually, I had an otter box defender on my 5 and it left an impression of the case near the front facing camera. So, I'm also a little weary of this case for the new iPhones.

I will never buy anything from otterbox again, I bought my case back in the day directly from them and it left marks near the front camera on my 4s, plus 4 scratches near all 4 corners of the phone (it seems the plastics joints of the case were responsible)....

I got a lifeproof which was way better....but now that it is owned by otter I just don´t know anymore.
