So I just got my otterbox defender in the punk color yesterday and I must say that I really like it. The color looks great. On the Otterbox website, they just don't seem to do a great job of showing the color of this case, which is really a deep blue and then a nice bright sort of lime green. On their website, the blue looks almost black, and while it can look almost black in certain light, it is definitely a deep blue color. I just put it on last night, and have already received several comments today from coworkers about it and how much they like it. I think it is much better than the all black one that I had initially and returned to Best Buy. But of course this color combo will not be for everyone, just as this case is not for everyone.

As to any fit issues with the case, there are none that I have noted. It fits the phone perfectly. I do have a SGP clear screen protector on the phone screen, in addition to the built in screen protector that the defender comes with. There are no issues with this that I have seen so far. Sensitivity of the screen is fine.

I also decided to take a few photos of the defender compared to the Speck Candyshell for the iphone 5 as well, just so you all can maybe get an idea of thickness. I do like the Candyshell for the iphone 5, just as I liked it for the 4/4S. It is well made and provides good drop protection. Of course not as bulky as the otterbox, but they are not really made for the same type of protection.

Of course there are other threads talking about these cases individually which you can see here in this forum, so I will not go into details about these cases and their pluses and minuses. I really just wanted to show you all some real life pictures of the otterbox Punk color. Looks awesome. I can't wait to check one out in person. How do you like it compared to the speck? That's the other case I'm looking at.

The Speck is also a very nice case. It does have its downsides to it though. It is very shiny and as such, tends to scratch easily and the scratches show, especially with the darker colors. I got the white one for this very reason as the scratches are not as obvious. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349456835.616381.jpg

You can see this in the above photo. This is with only a few days use. Speck does make a Matte version of this case called the Speck Candyshell Satin, which will not scratch as much as it has a soft touch finish. I did get this and tried it, however I returned it. Why i returned it was because it was not really great from the factory. There was a corner that already had the finish rubbed off and there was a lot of extra material around the seams of the case from them which made it look bad. So it went right back to Speck.

The Otterbox is certainly more bulky. You definitely lose the thin form factor of the iphone 5 with its use, however the phone is super protected in this case. I don't have to worry about it at all in this thing. I have 3 kids and freely let them use my phone when it is in this case, not so much when it is in others. It looks good and feels good in the hand. Slides in and out of the pocket easily. Does not collect dust. Really a well made case.
