Otterbox Symmetry Leather - short review

I love my apple leather case but wanted to find something with a little (a lot?) more bump/drop protection. I've got a Rhinoshield Playproof on order but haven't gotten it yet, but I did get my otterbox symmetry. I haven't had an otterbox since my blackberry days and normally don't like them much, too big and bulky but the symmetry seemed a little slimmer and when I saw the leather edition I had to try it. I got the tan because I thought the black with gold letters looked a little cheesy.

It's not bad, much thicker than the apple case but not overly huge. The leather doesn't feel nearly as nice as the apple but it's better than slick plastic. It fits almost perfectly except for the bottom at the charge port, one of my pictures hopefully shows it but there's a gap, like they made a mistake in measurements or something. Other than that it's tight and feels pretty good, definitely not slippery. The mute button is a little harder to get to but not terrible and the buttons feel good but take a little more pressure. I'll use it for a little while and see how it wears but I'm definitely not going to drop test it so don't even think about asking. Anyhow, here's some pictures:

Nice! Is it genuine/real leather? PU leather?

Otterbox claims it's real leather. It feels pretty good, not super soft like the apple leather case but not bad. I actually rubbed some leather conditioner into it that I use on my car seats and it softened the feel a bit so I think it's genuine leather.

Also, if you set it down the leather back will help it stay put. I tried a book test, placing the phone and case on a book and tilting it until it started to slide. I know it's not very scientific but I could lift to maybe close to 45 degree angle before it slid.

To add a little more to the review, the gold letters at the bottom are just plastic, glued onto the case and come off VERY easily. I'm wishing I'd gotten the black now just because i could have removed those stupid gold letters.

Love the looks of this case except for the gold letters...how easily do they come off and do they leave any marks or residue on the leather?

They came off pretty easy, didnt need to do much to pry them off. theres a faint impression in the leather but no residue.
