Out of country unlocked iPhone 3g replaced with uk iPhone 3g

Hi Guys and Girls
just telling you i live in australia and i have a unlocked iphone 3g i just had my phone replaced here in london and bought it home and itunes unlocked it for me i thought it would be locked to o2 and not be able to unlock but it worked just a bit of advice for you who travel overseas to a country that has a apple store
