If a new model macbook pro comes out, then you need a replacement, and apple agrees, do they give you the new model, or what you had?

They give you the model that is the same price you bought it for. If they have old Macbook Pro's in stock, they will swap with that but if all they have are the new MBPs you will get the one that is now the same price as your previous one.

Seriously?

I'm sending my Macbook Pro in for repair tomorrow!

I have until the 16th to ship it.

Should I wait?

I don't think there's going to be much of a difference whether you ship it out now or wait a few days -- Apple will have some stock of the old MBPs easily until the end of the week, whether it be refurbs or new.

Good point. Apple still shows plenty of Macbook Pros in stock on their website, so I'm sure they have plenty to send to people needing replacements.
