I'm using Outlook for Mac 2011, on an iMac that is running Snow Leopard and a Blackberry Curve. Two weird things are happening:

1) Outlook doesn't detect new messages unless i hit send/receive. I have it set up to check automatically every five minutes, but for whatever reason, the automatic check doesn't detect messages that I know should be there. I have to manually hit send/receive to get it to actually recognize that there are new messages. How can I fix this?

2) Every new message that does show up after hitting send/receive is marked as "read" in Outlook. I've read a bit about this problem, and I'm guessing it is something along the lines of the Blackberry receiving the messages first. TO BE CLEAR: I am NOT reading the messages first on the Blackberry, yet they still show up as "read" on Outlook. How do I get every new message to be marked as "unread" on Outlook?

Please help?
