I know the answer to this could be completely speculative however I am hoping someone could shed a little more light on the situation

Apple TV's are required to have any media stored on the Time Capsule to be played through your iTunes Library which is problematic since I only have a laptop and defeats the purpose if it always has to be open to watch media. This issue can be bypassed with jailbroken Apple TVs that use XBMC and can directly point to the wireless directory of the Time Capsule and take out the need for iTunes to be opened.

Here lies my question. With OUYA being able to use XBMC will the I be able to play my media wirelessly from the Time Capsule without having to worry about having iTunes open?

In theory... yes. If XBMC can access the TC files with the ATV, it should work the same way on the OUYA.
