I just got my "new to me" Macbook Pro 15" 2.6 and I did a migration assistant transfer from my old MBP 2.33. Things seem to be working okay after resolving a home directory name conflict, but I don't know if this is the "optimal" way to do it. Sure its easy, but won't this be transferring some old stuff from the old computer, slowing it down... libraries, preference files, etc?

And I am just curious who all has used the assistant and not had any problems? It would be a total pain to reinstall everything, and reconfigure it all, especially given my mac addition recently has been bad and I've had to reconfigure my stuff a bunch.

I did it via ethernet for my GlassBook from my MBP and had no issues whatsoever...not even home directory conflicts
