Is it possible on 3.1.2 im already jailbroken and have iPhonevm2 set up and it works great but i would like to get up around 500mzh the chip is designed to handle 600mzh from what ive researched. Thanks for any help!

if it is a 3gs then it is already 600mhz, i think?
and no you cant overclock it. you cant do that with any apple products.

On 2.2.1 there was a .plist hack that was blocked im running a 3g 412mzh. Apple underclocked them to probley save battery life or meet an energy star requirment.

I was looking into this about a year ago, and there is no way to do it. I actually came across a forum that had a donation set up for this one hacker to work on finding out how to do it. After a couple months he said that he found where the file was to change but it was hardcoded or something and could not be changed. Others confirmed it and they all agreed to give up.

Or something along those lines

There was a youtube video (taken down) that people claimed worked and had little to minor heat issues around 530mzh ill have to post some links. Considering its already underclocked and apple did overclock from 400mzh to 412mzh in a firmware update i would feel safe at 480-500mzh.
