So I decided that my Dual 1.0GHz MDD G4 needed a little bit of a speed boost, and found that it was possible to overclock it by soldering around with the resistors on the processor daughterboard.

After a little more googling, however, I found out that there are a few people out there that have been able to overclock a single processor MDD G4 without touching the hardware, using only OpenFirmware!!!!

Hardware OC MDD G4

Software OC Single Proc MDD G4

Mac Mini OpenFirmware OC

Edit: NEVERMIND. After a few more benchmarks it became apparent that there was no speed increase. Overclocking the MDD G4 has to be done by resoldering the resistors on the daughterboard. Changing OpenFirmware just changes what the OS reports, not how fast the processors actually go.
