Hey guys.. so I've had this dream for a while to experience 120HZ on the internal LCD display on my MBP 13 2017 TB. Is it stupid? Sure. I dunno, Maybe? :)

Anyways the closest thing to any technical details I can find on the web is that the panel emits 500nits brightness, with a P3 colorspace and 2560x1600 native res. Beyond that finding *any* sort of panel codes or manufacturer or data sheets has so far been frustratingly out of reach :(

A search on the Panelook database for panels matching those criteria, comes up empty handed too.

Moving on, I have a few ideas. The two most promising, at this stage being 1) use switchresx to slowly overclock frequencies and hope it doesn't blow up. 2) Use an eGPU at 120hz and the screen mirroring trick to get it to use the eGPU as primary on the internal display.

Let me know if y'all have any thoughts

Well I made some progress - sort of. So using the eGPU and mirroring I can get it to show 120fps in the UFOtest.

However, I suspect it's more a weakness of the test and the physical refresh is probably still locked to 60hz.
