The solution!!
I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.3 - latest as of today
The Mail app is version 6.3 (1503) - latest as of today
1. Open Mail.app
2. Click Mail (on the top left corner next to the Apple logo) Then hit Preferences. Or hit cmd + , on your keyboard.
3. In the Preferences window, Locate your ovi email on the left. Click on it, it will be highlighted.
4. There are three tabs on top, click "The Account Information" tab.
a.Make sure the Incoming Mail Server is: imap.mail.ovi.com
b.Make sure the User Name has your full email address: E.g.
Appleseed@ovi.com
c. Make sure you put your correct password.
5. Now lets move to the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Hit the arrow to open the SMTP servers list.
a. Click Edit SMTP Server List... A server list window will open.
b. Click the + button, you will have two tabs. Select the Account Information tab and fill this information:
Description: (write your email here) E.g.
Appleseed@ovi.com
Server name: smtp.mail.ovi.com
c. Click on the Advanced tap and fill this information:
Select the "Use default ports (25, 465, 587)".
Select to Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
Authentication: Select "Password" from the drop down menu.
User Name: (write your email here) E.g.
Appleseed@ovi.com
Password: Type in your correct password.
d. Hit "OK"
6. Now you are back to the Preferences window.
Select the Use only this server.
and for the TLS Certificate is None.
7. Click the Advanced tab.
Make sure the Port is 993 and you are using SSL
For the Authentication: Password.
Now Close the Preferences window. It will ask you to save the information. Hit save.
Congratulations, now your Ovi account has the correct settings and you should be able to send and receive emails try it!!
