oving iTunes Libary to TC

I've just moved my iTunes library to my TC and consolidated it in iTunes, the library has now doubled in size from 35Gb to 70Gb. I looked at the directory and none of it has duplicated so how can what was a 35Gb directory on my MacBook now be 70Gb on my TC?
