Hi guys,

Basically I just went onto Mail and did a new account setup, typed my university email address (which I usually have to use Outlook Web Access for), username and password, and it set the account up straight away and pulled in the emails.

I thought wow, that was easy, this will be amazing on my iPhone. I went onto the iPhone and did the following:

1. Mail -> Add Account -> Exchange
2. Filled my email address in, just like on the Mail.app
3. Filled my username in, just like on Mail.app
4. Filled my password in, just like on Mail.app and pressed Next
5. A server field appeared, so I copied what I saw in the Mail.app when I checked the settings it had detected (this is probably where I went wrong?)
6. It said Unable to Verify Certificate. I clicked "Accept"
7. It said "Exchange account verification failed"

Emails don't work. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

When viewing the account in mail.app is it listed as an exchange account? or as pop or IMAP?

Hi, thanks for replying!!! :)

It's Exchange 2007. In Mail this is all the info I'm given:

Internal server:
www.outlook.DOMAIN.com

External server:
[empty]

Username:
[as email address, up to @DOMAIN.com]

Under advanced, Internal server path:
EWS/Exchange.asmx

Internal Port:
443 (SSL ticked)

External server path:
[empty]

External Port:
80 (SSL unticked)

Would be so appreciative if you could help me with this! Many thanks!

before you waste your time:
are you sure if they allow you to use the mail on a mobile device?

some places will allow syncing with certain devices and applications. at my work the iphone was just recently approved the iphone to sync with our exchange servers. before that, the mail would only work on the mail.app program and blackberry devices.

so it might just be an issue of the server not configured for iphone or allowing the iphone clients to connect.

I've tried this myself for work and from what I've read and understood is that Mail.app connects differently than the iPhone does. I'm not too sure of the specifics anymore but just because it connects in Mail.app doesn't mean it'll work on the iPhone.

Exchange 2007 has a feature called Outlook Anywhere that enables you to get your mail via client over the internet. This is different than OWA. Could this be what Mail.app is configured for?

Outlook Anywhere is just an easy version of RPC over http that was offered in exchange 2003.
