Hi,
I currently have a 2009 13" 2.26ghz MacBook Pro.
Eventually, I will be buying a new 2012 15" 2.6ghz MacBook Pro.
But I am waiting for a refurbished model to be available.

I do a lot of video work with the RED Scarlet, and I use my computer to copy footage over while on set.*We use anywhere from 250gb to 750gb a day of footage.*So after two years, copying/deleting that much footage has taken a toll on my internal drive.

I was considering getting an OWC Data Doubler with the 250gb 6g SSD.
But I would use my 750gb 7200rpm drive in the doubler, and the SSD as the main drive.
This way, the SSD OS drive would stay stable. While the 2nd internal 750gb drive is used for copying footage.

My question is about the copying speed versus cost.
Basically right now, we FW800 daisy chain a 2tb WD 7200rpm external drive to our RED card reader that is then connected to the computer with a non powered FW800 cable. I copy the card to the internal drive, then backup from internal to the external 2tb.

Does FW800 slow down being daisy chained?
Would daisy chaining a 2nd external 2tb drive be just as fast as copying from the FireWire card reader to the data doubler drive?

Basically, should I just get a second external drive, or is the OWC Data Doubler going to save me time?
