so you support this? the price is just crazy to get two drives and an enclosure.

no point in doing this unless i have a raid card huh? i was looking to do a RAID 0 for a setup that is streaming sampler instruments in logic.

My best bud and I are both pro photographers, in addition to being Mac nerds.

My friend called me up, and said he had ordered two of these units, but with 2 500 gig drives in each. He was going to stripe each pair then mirror them, to give him roughly a TB of mirrored storage from the OWC boxes.

I went over there, we put them together, and popped the two eSATA cards into his Mac Pro. They fired right up - I couldn't help but notice the fans are pretty noisy.

There are two eSATA cards from OWC - get the better one. Don't try to save a few bucks there, it's just not worth it.

The speed is great, and the boxes are built like tanks. I'll end up with one of these sporting two 750 gigs for backup. The noise is annoying, but worth it to me. I know you do audio, so this might not be an option for you.

Hmm... I might have to check into those. A quick swap of the stock fan for some Yate Loons might do the trick....

I have the 750GB sister drive (RAID 1 FW 800). I'd assume it's about 95% the same. I don't find it to be all that loud at all.
