Hi everyone,

I have a 2010 MBP and looking to upgrade it with SSD.

I want to go with OWC but they have not release a new SSD with the Sandforce 2xxx chipset yet.

However, I have seen many ppl having problem using the Vertex 3 in their MBP (due to driver problem?) + 2010 MBP does not support SATA3. That somehow makes me want to go for the current OWC rather than waiting.

So my questions are

1. Will the ssd drive be faster than the current one if OWC release the ssd with Sandforce 2x chipset even if I'm using SATA2?

2. Does any one have a good guess about the time OWC will release that ssd?

Thanks.

0. Vertex 3 isn't out yet. Maybe you're thinking of the Crucial C300 which has had some complaints w/ MBPs.

1. Yes it will be faster on random reads/writes than the SATA II version. And the SATA II version does not saturate the SATA II link with sustained reads/writes and the SATA III version will.

2. Might as well wait for it. No one knows except them.

I say wait a month or a few weeks. I asked OWC Grant on their blogs and they won't release an ETA. But it's on their product roadmap they said. Personally, it might come out this month or in June :/
