I like the idea of having a dock in at times in addition to external enclosures. For backups it's easy to pull a HDD from the shelf and update.

I would like to have a HDD live in the dock (in addition to the ones on my shelf) so CCC can do automated backups. I was disappointed that the Voyager dock can't wake up my HDD after it goes to sleep. In system preferences I can always uncheck "put HDD to sleep" but don't wish to since I have many other drives that don't need to always be active.

Do other docks have this issue? Do I need to use an enclosure if I want to do this?
