For a long time, I've been debating between replacing the hard drive in my early 2008 15" MBP with an SSD, or buying a new computer. 256 GB wouldn't be quite enough, but 512 GB would be more than enough for the foreseeable future. I couldn't justify spending $500+ on a 512 GB SSD for such an old MBP, but Crucial has the following on sale for $349 after rebate, which is very tempting:

Several people on here upgraded their 2007/2008 MBPs with SSDs in 2010 and 2011 and raved about the performance boost. How does the performance seem now? Are you just biding your time until 2013 and Haswell, or do you think your MPBs will be useable until 2014 or 2015? Spending $350 to keep my MBP useable for another two years would be worth it, but if people who have upgraded think their MBPs are feeling slow now, then I'll save my money and apply it toward a Haswell MBA next year. Aside from the usual web surfing/email/word processing, my heavy apps are Aperture (almost 6,000 photos in my library) and Logic 9.
