Decided I wanted to transition from pad to book and wanted to know if it is normal for it to have inferior wifi to the IPP.

The range just isn't as good. In spots where I'd have a weak but working connection on the IPP the mb drops to 1mbps and is effectively disconnected.

My Wi-Fi is pretty strong at my house, but I think in general the aluminum case of the MacBook line affects the signal more than it does on the iPad since the former lacks the cutout for the antenna.
