Hi.

I have an iMac G5 running Mac OS X Tiger and was recently playing around with the ownership and permissions of my external hard drive. I accidently changed them to no access for the owner, the group and the other users on the computer. Obviously now i can't access my external hard drive.

Does anyone know how to revert this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I'm not 100% sure this will solve your problem .. but it's worth a try.

1. Highlight the drive in "Finder"
2. Press and hold the Apple key and hit "i" This will bring up the Info panel
3. Go down to "Ownership & Permissions
4. Change "You can" to Read & Write
5. Check the little box beside "Ignor ownership on this drive"

...:)

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately beacause everything is set to no access, when i switch on the external hard drive it does not mount, nor can i make it mount using the disk utility. So it doesn't show in the finder.

Any ideas?

Thanks again
