Ozaki iCoat Slim-Y++ for iPad 3rd Gen

I ordered this case from iGearGuys on April 22nd and it was finally delivered today! So, I am here to share my views. I paid about 64 dollars for this case, but I noticed their price fluctuates a lot. Amazon has it for 94.99, which I think is insane, but whatever.

I'm not going to get into all of the details of this case, as the manufacturer has done a good job describing those so you can just check out their website at http://ozakiverse.com/products/ipad/icoat-slim-y-d-plus and watch their video:

did not expect you to receive the case so quickly! what was that, two days?

glad to see you are liking it? no regrets waiting for the Moshi instead?
I did not expect it to come with a built in strap either!
is yellow and black the only color options as of now?

Yeah it was pretty quick I was suprised haha.

Yep only available in yellow and black as far as I know. Nope no regrets, I love it. The built in stylus holder puts this in front of the Moshi for me and the strap fixes the problems so it is pretty much perfect now. Sure having stronger magnets instead of a strap is preferred, but it's not a bother to me.

I'm not sure, but I think Ozaki is releasing a regular Y model with the strap too and calling it the OZAKI iCoat Travel iPad Smart Case (http://ozakiverse.wordpress.com/2012/06/28/stop-working-start-traveling-with-ozaki-icoat-travel-ipad-smart-case-new-york-usa/#more-1037).

You just pull it over and it holds very tightly. I am kind of worried from repeated usage the strap may end up becoming loose, but part of me thinks it won't be a problem as it is really tight. I only plan on using it when I'm going to throw it in a bag or something to prevent unnecessary wear and tear on the strap just in case.

Overall I highly recommend this case over the Y and Y+, it feels more solid and better built and the included strap solves the auto wake on and off problem that the other models have. I think I have found the case I am finally going to keep.

:D

I just noticed that the earlier renditions of the Y++ lack the back strap. I'm guessing the delay was due to this?

I wonder if new Y+ and Y models will also have the backstrap. I prefer the strap but i like the futurism design on the Y+.

to be honest, I think the travel series looks too tacky

Hehe I kind of like it. Would love a San Francisco version, but yeah I like plain ones because they look more professional.

Hopefully they add the strap to the other models as well. If not the y++ is really nice if you don't mind the colors.

Updated my experience video to come soon.

sweet, looking forward to seeing it real soon!
i just contacted igearguys and they said that the new versions of the Y+ can also come with the built in strap!
so now i'm definitely undecided on whether to go for the Y+ futurism model which has a cool unique imprinted circuitry style design, or go for the Y++ which as you say, has a thicker better cover and would probably be more appropriate when I bring it to meetings and presentations.

Hey,

I would definitely recommend going with the y++. The design is nice, but I think functionality is more important. Up to you though.

I am in the process of uploading the video right now.

yeah I decided on the Y++ over the Y+, but now the problem is Moshi or the Y++ after seeing Pitt's review lol.

one thing I would like to know is if the auto on/off accidentally comes on often on the Y++, on videos of the Y version, it seems to be triggered easily since the cover seems loose.

Please watch the video, I have updated it in the first post. It doesn't come undone easily, and with the strap it should be bulletproof.

The Moshi is a nice case, but I don't know about that typing angle.

thanks for the upload. indeed this version solves the concerns people had with the Y and Y+!

gosh, now its really hard to choose between that or the moshi versacover..
do I want a built in stylus or an additional back magnet. (and either could be modified to have the other). hm..

Yeah it is hard, I love the clear back on the Moshi lol. I'm thinking about getting it so I can have the best of both worlds.

Btw that stylus that comes with the Ozaki is one of the best I've ever used it has this weird mesh on it and it glides effortlessly and is so responsive. I don't know what material they use, but it's really nice. I'm comparing it with those Cosmos styli that you see on Amazon.

go for it! Moshi is california based (sunnyvale) so it should get to you rather quickly I assume :D

I'm going to modify my sig and include yours and pitts review, both the Y++ and Versacover seem like an awesome option for those who want a case that does landscape and portrait modes

I also got an Ozaki iCoat Travel (Rome). It's just as good as this one, but it has an awesome Rome print on it. I love Ozaki's cases. I can post pictures of that case if anyone is interested.

I also have a Lifeproof Nuud case as well, but that is a completely different beast.
