page freezing at checkouts

I have an iMAC 27" i5,ihave just upgraded to Mavericks,when running ML i would get to a checkout mostly big brand stores the page freezes and now it does the same with Mavericks,but if i use my white mac book running Snow Leopard there is no problem the transaction goes through no problem,is there a setting i have to switch on or off or are the stores not geared up for the newer Os
