Pages 08 - that bracketed box that's at the top of word documents

How do I get rid of this thing?

At the top of every page that is a bracketed little box that you can write stuff in and whatever you write appears on every succeeding page.

I don't want that box there. Is it a title box or what? I can just write the title free-form without being restricted to this box. I want it gone, gone, gone.

Can some kind soul explain how I do it?

I don't know how to remove them but FYI they're Header and Footer boxes

Fire up the Inspector...

Document inspector -> Document Tab. Now uncheck the Header and Footer checkboxes.
