I was debating whether to post this in Mac Applications or in Digital Photography, but given that it's a more of a Pages issue I decided to post it here.

I recently used Pages to lay out some text with lots of photos embedded. The first document I created used photos from my iPhoto library that were shot as jpegs. I exported it to PDF and printed it out on quality paper on a color laser printer and all was fine.

For the next one, I used photos that were in Aperture and that I had shot as RAW. I exported to to PDF and it looked fine. When I printed it, however, the photos looked horrible. They were all too dark, and looked like the color scale had been compressed to just a few colors. Subtle oranges printed as garish red, and that sort of thing.

The only thing I could think of that might have caused the problem was using RAW images from Aperture. So I went back and exported all those RAW photos to jpegs and used them to replace the images in the text. Exported to PDF, printed it, and it looked fine.

I assumed that Pages would have just converted the RAW images from the media browser to png or something usable and that it would work fine. Obviously, it didn't.

So, this might have been an isolated problem with something else I had unwittingly done. Or maybe it had something to do with converting to PDF (the printer I used is connected to a PC, so no Pages). But I thought I'd see here if anyone else has had this problem or to at least alert others to a potential issue. As it turned out, I had to redo nearly 60 pages of text and images, which took a bit of time.
