Pages and Word interoperability - Using Comments?

I need to send an essay to someone for marking, and they want it electronically so they can use put in comments. If I export from Pages as a Word document, will they be able to use Word (2003 IIRC) to insert comments, and will I then be able to read them back in Pages?
