Pages App... Inserting Date in Template

Hello,
I'm trying to put a date in a template I am creating, so that each time you create a new doc it automatically has the current date. I've searched a lot, but all references I find seem to be for old versions of pages, where the Insert Date dialog box has a check box for "auto update." I see no such option in the current version of Pages.
Any help?
