Pages help -- text borders (not text box)

Hi guys-

I'm looking for how to place a txt border around selected text or chars in Pages. I know I can simulate this with a text box, but any way to do without? I can easily do this in Word (Format ... Border and Shading) but I am looking for a Pages solution (as I don't own Word).

Thanks for any help!
