Hi All,
I've just recently upgraded from mbp13 to a brand new shiny mbp15 i7. I love my shinny new computer, however I have an issue that I'd love to hear your opinion about.
In my typical day I spend around 80% of time on the Win7 side. Both because necessity (ACT! and some other work software) and because I'm just used to how Win7 operates. When I had a mbp13, the heat/lost of battery was not significantly noticeable, maybe 20% of battery.
Now, on MBP15 i7, I'm barely getting over 3 hours. Don't get me wrong, I understand that it's running on discrete graphics which uses more power. Also, the heat makes it difficult to hold on your lap. So far my experience is somewhat disappointing. I love the looks/feels of the computer, but the bootcamp side just blows. I don't mind crippled touchpad, as it's still better than any other PC on market right now.
It seems to be a catch 22 situation, as I was considering an HP Envy, but it's battery life is not that much better than MBP on Win7. Also, the build quality is far superior.
My question to you is whether there's anything I can do to improve my win7 experience. Maybe a better driver set/tweak? How are you enjoying your mbp15 on the windows side? Maybe there are better laptops for me to consider?
