I was looking on the Crucial website, and buying two separate sticks of 1GB RAM works out at £180, however, buying a 2GB matched pair, is £205 ... i know its not a huge price difference, but im a student and £25 is a weeks worth of food! So would there be any noticeable negative differences to get two separate 1GB sticks.

You didn't tell us what model computer you have. Some, like the Mac Pro, require matched pairs, most other models do not. Tell us what you have.
