Pairing Apple remote on MBP with Leopard

Hi, have a new MBP with 10.5.2 and I cannot pair the remote with it. :confused:
The remote works, but since I use it with iAlertU I wanted to pair it. Tried to do it according to help. Also took it to local dealer - he tried to do it the same way - no success. Any suggestions? Cheers
