Pairing bluetooth headphones with my MacBook Pro

Hi all,

I was wondering whether someone has had any experience with pairing Sony bluetooth headphones with macOS? I have tried using the conventional method of making both discoverable and then selecting the headphones in the list populated by macOS. This hasn't worked.

Can anyone suggest any alternative methods?

What errors are you experiencing when you attempt pairing? Do they simply not show up? Have you tried pairing the headphones with any other devices? Do any bluetooth headphones, or any bluetooth devices, pair with the Mac successfully? (ie, have you narrowed the problem down to *just* these headphones with *just* this Mac?).

the headphones simply will not appear on the Mac's list of local bluetooth enabled and discoverable devices. Have paired the headphones perfectly with my iPhone and have paired my Beats powerBeats3 to my Mac in the past.
