I am travelling to visit a friend and have been asked if it would be possible for me to take her parents PAL camera and run it through to an NTSC DVD.
The people I'm going to do this for aren't the most technically proficient so they're not entirely certain what they're shooting on. They told me that they're using 'little tapes' so it could be anything from DVCAM to MiniDV to Hi-8.
Basically what I'm looking for assistance with is to get it from the PAL standard that they've been shooting on to an NTSC standard DVD. I'm not editing it, I'm not going to crop it or color correct. I just need to get it from the Camera onto a DVD as quickly as possible. This trip is for pleasure so I'd rather not spend the better part of a weekend indoors converting somebody's home movies.
I use a Macbook Pro 2.14, Mac OS 10.5.2, with Final Cut Pro, iMovie, VLC, and VisualHub.
Any suggestions to make this process as painless as possible would be greatly appreciated.
