Pal Conversion in FCP

I work on HDV NTSC but I keep the masters in APPLE PRORES HQ 1920X1080.
I need to convert some masters stored in
APPLE PRORES HQ 1920X1080 60i.mov TO PAL.mov.
The only chance I see in FCP is the conversion to APPLE PRORES HQ PAL, but the resulting file isless than one third smaller than the original NTSC. The ratio is 1 to 3.5.
Any idea of why?
Any other suggested way of conversion?

Not sure why the file is smaller, but you can't just drop one format into the sequence of another and render it. You need something like the Nattress Converter. I used this last weekend to convert 2 NTSC tapes for a 3 camera interview (idiot videographer changed the format on the cameras) and they passed broadcast QC without a problem.

Thanks for the info. I'll try Nattress. I found why the smaller size, it converts but to Standard definition......
